RBF-010: The Infinite Baseplate

Endless gray baseplate stretching to the horizon
Seamless tile generation at edge of plate

Containment Procedures

  • None required. The Infinite Baseplate remains passive and does not interfere with other places.

Description

First published in May 2013 by user BaseBuilder_2002, the Infinite Baseplate appears as a standard 512×512 gray plate but extends without limit. As avatars approach any edge, new tiles spawn seamlessly—defying Roblox Studio’s hard bounds and creating a horizon that never arrives.

First Encounter

On July 15, 2013, an automated sweep of legacy places flagged “The Baseplate” (Place ID 78541230). Developer Op_Green loaded the map and witnessed the terrain ripple outward as he moved. Attempts to edit or delete the plate caused Studio to freeze, leaving only the limitless plane.

Fate

The original place was archived by the Foundation in August 2013. All public mirrors have since been removed. No subsequent sightings of infinite terrain have been confirmed.
